Christmas 2003

Today was Christmas, which is one of my very favourite days of the year (along with my birthday and any other days that involve lots of food and treats).

At Christmas you get presents, and this year was no exception, however the best present of all was one of Mum's. We went outside onto the hill behind our house and Mum was explaining to me that the funny looking thing she was dragging behind her was called a sled. Now at first I didn't know why she thought I would like this sled thing. I sniffed it, but it clearly wasn't something I could eat, and to be honest it didn't look very interesting at all.

Anyway once we were at the top of the hill Mum sat down on the sled and without any warning shot off down the hill. Of course I quickly realised what the sled is for—sleds are what humans use so they can try and be as fast as greyhounds. Normally whenever Mum and I play she runs much slower than me, and to be honest she isn't very exciting to chase, but with this new sled we had a lot of fun because now she can move pretty fast and I get to chase her. Of course once we got to the bottom of the hill she hopped off the sled to drag it back to the top and was just as slow as ever, so while I was waiting for I ran up and down the hill a few times on my own. Still it is a wonderfully exciting new game that involves lots of running so I am happy.

After all of that running in the snow we got an extra large dinner and I spent some time collecting all of the new toys that we had been given and putting them in my bed. Once all the toys were safe in my bed I lay down with them and fell fast asleep.
