Tegan's Story

I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Tegan, and I was born in Ireland in 1996. (Actually originally I was called Defa, but Mum felt that this didn’t really suit such a distinguished lady as myself, and decided to change it.)

Not much is known about my breeding, as although I do have tattoos, I was never registered. The reason for this is that I failed to chase. Frankly I don’t see why this should come as any great surprise, as I have never seen the point of running round and round in circles after something that you never catch! My new brothers (Jack and George) loved to race, which I think says it all about the size of boys' brains in relation to the size of girls' brains, but that is another story. Anyway, as I didn’t want to run on a track, I was sent off to be rehomed. I have lived in a house since I was eighteen months old, but at the age of six I found myself back in kennels again. This is because my owner was not well, and couldn’t take care of me anymore. I had been in Croftview kennels for a few weeks when a lady came along to take me for a walk. I was happy to be out, and even more pleased when she walked me towards two brindle Greyhounds. They were both boys, so we all did a lot of dancing around and sniffing each other, which was fun. We went on a walk up the lane, and stopped on the common for some photos, which was ok as the lady kept giving me treats.

I liked Jack and George, and was quite impressed by their strutting, manly, behaviour. When we got back to kennels I tried to jump in the back of the van with Jack and George, but instead I was taken back to my kennel. The lady who owned Jack and George than came in with something called a tape measure, and started to measure lots of different parts of me. Apparently this is so she can order some things and have them ready when I go home with her in a few weeks time. I have to wait here in kennels until then as apparently she is going off to do something called ‘getting married’. I hope it doesn’t take too much time before she comes back for me. To be continued…
