Moving to Our New Home in SwitzerlandFeb 2003Today we had a delivery, which is one of my favourite things. It gives me the chance to rush to the door and bark madly at whoever is ringing the bell, and then just dance around while Mum tries to open the door without me escaping. The delivery contained lots of new plastic beds for us which seemed a little scary at first, but once they were all set up with our bedding inside they looked pretty cosy. What was even better was Mum then got a huge handful of treats and threw them into each bed so we would all get in to eat the treats. George was already asleep in his anyway and Jack was too scared to get in his, so once I ate all the treats in my bed I quickly jumped into Jack's as well to eat his treats too. Then I stood outside my bed and looked at Mum waiting for her to throw more treats. She did this a few more times and each time I got straight back out of my bed as soon as I had finished them all.
Mum seemed to find this deeply frustrating but I was too tired to care. 4th March 2002Today was not a good day as several strange men came to our house, so I had to bark and bounce a lot to try and scare them away and defend our things. Rather than being praised for this behaviour, Mum put me out in the back of the van where I spent most of the day snoozing and occasionally leaping up to bark, just to let everyone know I was still there. 5th March 2003The men came back again today and this time we were all put outside in the garden. Mum tried to placate us with a bone and of course the boys settled down to eat immediately. I wasn't having any of it, so I stood and screamed for a while, but as this didn't get me anywhere I eventually gave up and ate my bone too. After the men were gone we went for a ride in a van but it wasnt the van Mum usually uses with us. Still I didnt mind, as I just love being in the car so I settled down immediately. When we stopped we were at a new house, but as our beds and dinner were there I didnt mind at all. 6th March 2003Today was an unusual day but all in all it wasn't too bad. It started well with a walk in some nice woods and Mum even remembered to bring my squeaky ball so I did lots of running and chasing.
We then went on another van ride and when we stopped we were somewhere I have never been before. It was busy and noisy but Mum kept patting me and telling me it was alright, so I wasn't scared at all. Once we were inside the building with our crates I just stood by Mum while Jack and George let lots of strangers touch them—yuck. Finally I was tired and so I went and got in my crate and curled up with one of Mum's old t-shirts. I went to sleep and the crate was moved around a bit but I was too tired to make much fuss. Next thing I know we were all strapped to another cart and I could hear Mum talking. I woke up and got very excited and immediately started to call to her. I was thrilled to see her again but she didnt take me out of my crate because she said we had to go somewhere called Customs. I was very cross about this and cried the whole time. Finally I got out of my crate and into a car with Mum and the other dogs. This made me happy again and I settled down to have another sleep. At the end of the drive was a wonderful big house set right in the mountains with fields and woods all around. If this is going to be our new home I think I will be very happy here.
