A Great Injustice

I just wanted to tell you all about the latest injustice in my life. Today after Mum had cleared away our breakfast bowls she started going through the various chests and boxes downstairs that hold all of our dog coats, collars, leads, toys, etc. Apparently this is something called 'Spring Cleaning', which is very confusing, as it is actually winter here at the moment.

Although it sounds a bit dull, this was actually quite fun, because I got to help by sniffing everything, and playing with all the toys Mum pulled out. Everything was going rather well, and we were all having a good time in our own way (George was laying on a pile of coats Mum had set aside for washing, Jack kept trying to sit in Mum's lap when she was on the floor, I was picking up things and placing them in strategic locations around the house, and Buttons was in his bed with his favourite rabbit toy).

And then it happened - Mum said that we had entirely too much stuff, and she was going to donate a pile of our things to the dogs in the local rescue centre. At first this didn't sound too bad as I am not that worried about old coats and brushes, but then I realised she was also putting some of my TOYS in the bag!!! She says that 32 toys are far too many for one dog, and that we need to think of the poor greyhounds in rescue who don't have any. Mum also insists that I can't play with all my toys at once, and if I am good I may even get new ones at Christmas, so now is a good time to clear out some of the ones I don't use any more.

I have to say that I love my Mum dearly but she has been wrong about things in the past, like the time she told me that rolling in cow manure was not a good thing to do. Well I did it anyway and it was fantastic fun, which shows how little she really knows.

Anyway I showed her. Once she had set aside a VERY large bag of my toys and put them by the front door I went and took every single toy out and carried them all back to my bed. Buttons helped a little bit, but I did most of the hard work myself. When she came back into the room I think she was most impressed with the way we had carpeted the living room floor with old toys (and a few coats, because Buttons will carry just about anything around in his mouth - that's boys for you).

She has since put all the toys back in the bag and shut it in the downstairs bathroom, but it is only a matter of time until someone forgets to close the door properly and I can rescue all my precious toys again.
