Tegan at the Canine Film AcademyWhat a very strange day it has been. When we got up this morning we went for our usual walk round the park, but instead of throwing the ball for me to chase Mum wouldnt let me run around as much as usual. She also kept calling me away from all of my favourite muddy puddles. When we got back home she started taking things out to the van, so I knew something was going on. I decided to help by following her everywhere even out onto the drive, as with my long pointy nose I am an expert at opening doors Mum thinks she has pulled shut. Finally she loaded Jack and I into the van and George was left at home. This in itself is not unusual as George doesn't really like going in the van and tends to whine and stand up a lot. This is fine by me as it means I get the pick of the best places to lie, and can scratch all the blankets into a pile just for me. Anyway we hadn't been going long when we stopped and Mum's friend Auntie Alyson put one of her dogs in the back of the van. I was OK about this as I have met Kes lots of times out walking, and although she also likes to lie down she doesn't take up much space. Jack was very pleased at being the only boy in the back of the van with two such lovely ladies, so he spent a good five minutes sitting with his ears up puffing his cheeks in and out. After what seemed like quite a long time we stopped and all got out of the van. I was hoping we would be at some woods so I could chase squirrels but we were actually on a gravel track surrounded by fields. We all walked along the gravel track and I kept waiting to arrive somewhere good so I could have a run, but instead we just walked back to the van and Mum and Auntie Alyson disappeared inside a large building. Eventually Auntie Alyson came and got Kes and took her off to the big building which was quite confusing. When Kes came back she smelt of nice food like hot dogs and just as I was about to start licking round her face Mum put my lead on and took me inside the building. There were a few people around who tried to touch me so I hid behind Mum's legs. Then they all went away and Mum went and stood right in the middle of a large white piece of paper. It was very strange as she was calling me and I could smell nice food treats, but I didn't want to stand on the paper. Finally I put my paw on and realised that it was ok so went over to her and she gave me a treat. Then I got some more treats just for standing there. Then I got even more treats just for standing there while a bright light flashed off and on. I was sure there had to be a catch, but apparently that really is all I was expected to do. Mum got me to stand on this piece of paper and then she walked away. The bright light flashed and Mum came back on the paper to give me my treat. Normally if I want a treat I have to go to my Mum (its called a recall and you only ever have to do them when there is something far more exciting you would rather be involved in) but today she bought the treats to me. This went on for a while and everyone was watching and saying how pretty I was. After it was finished I even let a few of the people pat me, and then another one of my greyhound friends came into the room. His name is Rocket and I like him a lot, so we both pranced around before Mum took me back to the car (which was a shame as I was just getting used to having lots of treats for standing still). When Rocket came outside again we all walked along the gravel track and Mum told me how pleased she was with me. There were some ponies in the field alongside the driveway and at one point they all went running off. I was hoping I would be allowed to chase them after being so good but apparently that still wasnt allowed. Rocket was also keen to join me but Auntie Karen wouldnt let him either. Below are some pictures of me being good at my photoshoot including one of Kes.
