Fiona's Brindle Boys - Jerry
I hope you’ve time to hear my tale—I’m last of all you see
As she was surfing on the net—Fiona spotted me
Her heart went out to this ‘old’ boy when she saw me on the screen
And then she read my history ‘bout when and where I’d been
My name is Jerry with a ‘J’ it’s ages since I raced In nineteen-ninety I was born and my records can’t be traced
My sire was Murlen’s Slippy Manor House was my dam’s name
Slaney View Stag’s what I was called, when racing was my ‘game’. Then later on for five whole years ? I lived with a family
But they said that I was ‘nervous’ and walked I could not be!
And so this boy was cast aside—to a Rescue Centre went Then Fiona swept me off my feet to a home that’s heaven sent!
I’ve two great pals—they’re George and Jack—I’m happy as can be
My life’s so wonderful these days—if you read on you’ll see.
Now I’ll describe my ideal day—like the other two have done
I’d get up really early and be let out by my Mum
Breakfast next and then a walk and a hearty snack I think…
Then I’d recharge my batteries by taking forty winks!
Off to the pet shop we would go and meet all sorts of folk
I’m always ready for a fuss, a tickle or a stroke. There are lots of goodies to be found that lurk beneath the shelves
And there are bins of ‘Pick and Mix’ are you meant to help yourselves?
There’s quite a choice of different ‘snacks’ but hamster food’s the best
To follow that excitement, I would go home for a rest!
After dinner in the evening—(this boy is so well fed!)
My Mum would give me lots of fuss and join me in my bed.
Now I like chasing squirrels tho’ my eyesight is quite poor
I rely on Jack to spot them—that’s what a brother’s for!
Now wearing coats I don’t much like nor having my teeth cleaned The dark and small dogs frighten me you know the sort I mean!!
My favourite treat is liver cake and hot dogs I adore And my duvet I like moving to the middle of the floor
At times, things overwhelm me but my fears I’ll overcome
I’m a happy, bouncy boy these days—I’m so grateful to my Mum
We couldn’t want for anymore—our lives are full of joy
So—“Goodbye” from Jerry, Jack and George—Fiona’s “Brindle Boys”
