Christmas 2003

One of the best things about Christmas is that because of all the presents involved, Mum takes a lot longer getting around to letting us out in the morning. As far as I am concerned that extra half-hour in bed is one of the highlights of the day.

This year was our very first Christmas in Switzerland and it was wonderful. In the garden here we have snow instead of mud. I was never very keen on mud as it gets between your toes and then you have to spend hours cleaning your paws. Here we have snow, which means I do a lot more running in the garden than I used to, and I get to boss the other three dogs around a lot.

The food we have here is pretty much the same as we had in England, but my present was really different this year—it was a fat, stripy, sea slug, that made a funny chattering noise when I bit it (which I did a lot).

One of the other good things about Christmas is having Mum and Dad around all the time, so that means lots of extra fuss. They like to sit at the table and play games, which is the perfect time for me to go and put my head in someone’s lap for an ear rub.

I think Christmas is my favourite time of year, as it incorporates all the best things in life, eating, sleeping, playing, and being loved.
