Fiona's Brindle Boys - George
As Jack has said—my name is George, I was born in ninety-three
And just like Jack I used to race at Hall Green and Wembley
My racing name was Lucky Pick I’m a cracking Irish lad
‘One to Pick’ my dam was called and ‘Leader’s Best’ my ‘dad’
It was late in ninety-seven when I left the racing track
When I was six Fiona came and I’ve never once looked back
Now unlike Jack my ideal day ? would not begin till ten
My Mum would bring my breakfast which I’d eat in bed and then
I’d take a walk, meet lots of folk who’d make a fuss of me
Back home again where I think I might stretch out on the settee
“Where next?” you ask—well I think I’d say that the Pet Shop I would choose
More folks to meet and on the floor there’s a chance of some spilled food!
Now I hope that you’re not thinking I’m a lazy, greedy boy
Though I must admit I Iove to sleep and my food I do enjoy
I like McDonalds takeaway—their Happy Meals are best
It’s a well-known fact that after meals one should always take a rest!
I hate the rain and when it’s dark I’m frightened of the moon Loud noises tend to scare me as do hot air balloons
So I’d rather talk of things I like - and first my favourite sweet
I really love Maltesers they’re an extra special treat
I’m also fond of chicken—‘cos that’s my favourite bird
I’ll eat it whole—I like it raw—to cook it seems absurd!
Altho’ I have a fluffy duck—that makes a quacking noise
I’m happy to be given any soft and squeaky toys!
We go down to the beach sometimes—and all have so much fun
I love to chase Jack on the sand—gosh! you should see us run!
You’ll often see me limping—an accident it was
But I never let it spoil my life, I’ll tell you why—because
I hobble up to strangers when I’m seeking sympathy
And I hold up my poorly leg so they’ll make a fuss of me!
And last of all is Jerry’s tale—he’s waiting patiently
I must be fair it’s his turn now—so it’s “Cheerio” from me….
