Links To Other WebsitesThese are some of my favourite greyhound-related sites. Many of the online retail sites are based in the UK, and those that aren't will ship to the UK (and usually Europe) if required. In most cases I have used the ones that offer goods for sale, and they are listed here because I have found their service and products to be of the highest quality. If there is a particular site that you would like to see here, please e-mail me the details. Please note that these links will open in a new window, but if you don't close it, they will all open in the same one.
RescueDumfriesshire Greyhound Rescue in Scotland are an independent group that work hard to find homes for greyhounds and lurchers. They take both ex-track and ex-coursing dogs. The site is basic, but updated regularly, and well worth a look if you live near the Scottish Borders or Cumbria. The Greyhound Adoption Programme of Queensland, Australia is a nice site with lots of interesting information and links. They also run a monthly, on-line photo competition to give potential adopters more of an idea of what greyhounds are like in a home environment. Greyhound Rescue West of England is a well-laid out site with pictures and information about dogs available for rehoming. They run a very reasonably priced foster scheme for anyone who is stuck for gift ideas for friends and family. Greyhounds R Us is a small group based in Southwest England. They have a lovely and regularly updated web site, with excellent pictures and descriptions of all the dogs they have available for rehoming. The rehoming stories are heart-warming and well worth a look too. North Yorkshire RGT is a newly-formed branch. The site is new and still under construction, but certainly worth a look. The Oldies Club, whilst not a greyhound specific rescue, is a web site to promote the adoption of older dogs across the UK. It highlights older dogs from all across the country who are in rescue and seeking a home. Having adopted several seniors myself, it is something I would encourage all those looking to adopt a dog to consider. RGT Croftview is based at Croftview Greyhound Kennels in Kent. The web site is excellent and updated on an almost daily basis, so it is always possible to check exactly what dogs are available for rehoming. The site itself provides loads of information about each dog (including a picture) and these are the kennels where Jerry, Tegan and Jet came from. If you live anywhere near here and are considering a greyhound the kennels are well worth a visit. Sighthounds Online is a site which aims to promote keeping all breeds of sighthounds as pets. The website has pages providing information about each breed and a forum for the discussion of issues relating to their welfare, diet, health, training, and behaviour. Still under construction, but already with some good information. Wimbledon Greyhound Rescue has a well-laid out site, with good pictures and information for each dog available for adoption. These are the kennels where Buttons (my fifth dog) came from and, if you are in the area you are assured of a warm welcome. My only criticism is that the text is all very small, and because of the background colours I find it all quite hard to read. [top] Information contained herein is provided 'as is'.
